Registration Week is now over, but you can keep making changes until the add/drop deadline for the appropriate term (or before for the first class meeting for ILE or short courses). (NOTE: If you were not registered for at least one course before 5pm on Friday 11/16, you may find a late registration fee on your student account in the coming weeks.)
Here are a couple of the frequently asked questions we get, as well as critical reminders:
When I try to register, ESTHER says the course is closed. This means the course either requires an application (see next bullet) or that the course is full. If the latter, please email jgsbregistrar@rice.edu with your Student ID Number, the course number and section, and the CRN, and we’ll add you to the waitlist.
Where can I find the link to apply for a course? The Tableau course list has a tab called Application-Based Courses, which has the course details, as well as the application link--click on the text link, and the clickable link will appear! Some applications are already closing, and others close between today and December 12.
Program Priority is in effect until December 7 and will be sorted out no later than December 14. Please see the Registration & Program FAQs in your program’s section of the Jones School Registrar and Advising CampusGroups website for more details.
As a reminder, all of the logistics information you need can be found on the Jones School Registrar and Advising CampusGroups site–just navigate to your program, then the Registration & Program FAQs section. You can also track your graduation progress by looking at your DegreeWorks account, or schedule an Advising Appointment to discuss any concerns you have as you move into your final semester. Let us know if you have any questions: jgsbregistrar@rice.edu.
First Year Students - Updated 2yr Calendar
An updated 2yr calendar has been posted to CampusGroups, as of 11/8. The changes are outlined below:
Spring 2019: You will notice the addition of an “All day Class” weekend on May 3-4. We will be offering two sections of MGMP 798: Strategic Management Simulation for your class: May 3-4 and August 9-10 (included on the prior 2yr Calendar). We will ideally have half of the class in each of these two offerings and will send out details about selecting a section later this month.
Fall 2019: MGMP 789: Global Field Experience
The trip was originally on your calendar from Friday, October 18 to Saturday, October 26. However, in order to make the Term 2 weekend electives available to you, we have shifted the trip to run Thursday, October 17 to Thursday, October 24.
We have also added the pre-trip preparation dates (August 1 and September 5) to the calendar view. Both of these Thursday classes will run during the standard class meeting time of 6:15pm-9:30pm.
Spring 2020: You have two core ILE weekends during your final semester in the program. One of these remains on February 28-29, 2020. Due to limited scheduling availability in spring 2020 for Rice Alliance’s signature Rice Business Plan Competition, we have moved the other ILE weekend to February 14-15, 2020 (from March 27-28).

First-Year Students - Textbook Pilot for Spring 2019
Don’t want all e-Textbooks? You need to opt-in to the pilot campus bookstore textbook distribution program for this Spring.
Obtain your spring textbooks in the format of your choice (new or used hardbacks, e-Text, or rentals) from the Rice Campus Bookstore by utilizing a credit amount placed on your bookstore account. The credit is calculated by the cost of all your textbooks as digital (or new hardbacks if no digital is available) plus a 10-20% additional buffer to account for variability and shipping. Any cost over the total credit amount is your responsibility to cover.
