Welcome from Dean Peter Rodriguez
For the last two years I have had the good fortune to start every day knowing that I am a part of an outstanding business school with an exceptionally bright future. Every dean and every school can tout something special about their community, their degree programs or campus environment, but none claim to have had so steady and rapid a rise in stature as the Jones School. As is often the case, the secret to our success is no secret at all, or rather, it is a secret that somehow managed to hide in plain sight, but no longer does. We offer a rare, if not unique, combination of programmatic attributes that combine to create an exceptionally enriching, personal and powerful educational experiences. Here, we are all closely connected, to each other, to our extraordinary university, and to a large, diverse and economically vibrant global city. Through our scale and setting we embrace a culture that is attentive, responsive and kind to everyone in our community. Combined with Rice University’s deep commitment to academic excellence, these values define our approach to developing leaders and to promoting positive impact on our world through education. I am privileged to serve you, our school and university and, along with all of my colleagues, look forward to welcoming you to our community very soon.

I graduated from The Ohio State University in 2009 with a B.A. in Political Science. I was born and raised in League City, Texas and was so happy to move back after graduation. I am a HUGE Dallas Cowboys fan (don’t hate) and have been looking forward to football season since February and I love to watch the games with my dad and my two big brothers. I will hate MORE...

Valhalla
The graduate student bar, located right here on campus, which you will come to know so well, has enforced a strict dress-code ever since former bartender of 25 plus years, John Schroeder mandated that all neck-ties be cut and stapled onto the pillar inside the bar. So before you drop by to enjoy a drink in your typical business-attire, make sure you remove your neck- ware or else choose to face the embarrassment of having your name advertised on your severed piece of clothing for all patrons to admire!
