Welcome to Houston!
Rice Business is so proud to be part of the Houston Community. Houston is truly remarkable in its makeup of people and cultures (there is no ethnic majority), great cost of living and excellent food options! We know that many of you will be moving to Houston in the next few weeks and we wanted to share a bit about what makes Houston such an amazing place to live.
We hope that over the next two years, you will have many opportunities to discover what makes Houston special and that it will feel like home. Don't be afraid to ask your classmates who already call Houston home why they couldn't imagine living anywhere else!

Rice Business Board Fellows
Founded by Rice MBA students and staff in 2008, Rice Business Board Fellows is a highly-competitive, application-based, year-long experiential learning program that matches talented, energetic and committed Rice MBA students as fellows on local nonprofit boards to serve as non-voting board members. Both students and organizations benefit from the Board Fellows program: Organizations gain access to the ideas and energy of future business leaders with the possibility of cultivating potential new board members. MBA candidates learn valuable leadership skills from community leaders and gain experience in the nonprofit sector from “real life” non-profit management and governance. Since their tenure, many Board Fellows have gone on to serve as voting board members for the organizations they served on as a fellow.
Looking to make a greater impact within Houston’s nonprofit community? Apply to be a 2025-2026 Board Fellow!
