Full-Time MBA Program

July 2, 2018

Registration

Because the first semester of your MBA program is 100% lock-step, you will not need to register for any courses. Instead, the Registrar team will take care of this for you, ensuring that you are registered for the right classes and sections.

We will be starting this process this week, but for us to do so, you need to have cleared all of your registrations holds. If you haven’t already done so, you can find the directions on how to do this by clicking here. Not sure if you still have holds? The instructions show you how to check that as well!

Once you have been registered for your fall courses (by 7/13), you will receive an email from us detailing your fall schedule with instructions on how to double check that the registration is correct. Registration will give you access to your fall Canvas sites, available only after the professor has published the course site, which is typically about two weeks prior to the start of the class.

Have questions? You can reach the full JGSB team by emailing us at jgsbregistrar@rice.edu.

Career Conference

This year’s panels are: Consulting, Energy, Entrepreneurship, Operations, Consumer Goods & Services, Technology, Financial Services, Investment Banking, Real Estate and Health Care.

More details to come from the Career Development Office.

CampusGroups App Walkthrough

As mentioned in last week's Summer Scoop, CampusGroups also has an app. You can find the CampusGroups app in the Apple Store and Google Play by searching for "Rice Business". The app is great for keeping you up to date without having to logon to the desk top app. The walkthrough below will help you get familiar with the most used features.

What should I be doing now?

Have you looked at the requirements for your Health Data Form, due July 1st? As part of this form, your doctor must certify your last tetanus and MMR vaccinations—if you don’t have these records, you must get booster shots which is a 2-shot process for MMR, requiring a month between doses. You cannot be registered for your fall courses until the corresponding hold is removed, so start this today!

Continue to work your way through the MBA Quantitative Toolkit and make sure that you have completed the Hogan Assessment. Instructions on accessing the Hogan Assessment should have been sent to you through email. If you cannot find this email, please reach out to Kari Mullin. You should still be working your way through your Onboarding Checklist and the Career Development Office assignments. Make sure that you are keeping up with the assignments and are turning them in by the deadline.

We will continue to reach out to you by email and by phone to collect past due assignments. The deadlines of these assignments are very important because the assignments give us the information that we need to be fully prepared for you to start the program in a few weeks. Please make sure that you are keeping up with deadlines and turning things in on time.

If you are on top of all of your assignments and you are still looking for something to do, here is a list of recommended reading:
