Spring Registration

Class of 2019:

“Registration week” for spring runs November 12-16. Registration holds will be placed on accounts on October 29 and must be resolved prior to spring registration. You received an email today (10/22) with the subject line “Spring 2019 Course schedule and Information.” This email includes your spring course list as well as the most important details you need regarding spring registration.

As a reminder, all of the logistics information you need can be found on the Jones School Registrar and Advising CampusGroups site–just navigate to your program, then the Registration & Program FAQs section. You can also track your graduation progress by looking at your DegreeWorks account, or schedule an Advising Appointment to discuss any concerns you have about the upcoming semester. Let us know if you have any questions: jgsbregistrar@rice.edu.

Class of 2020: You are welcome to review the resources listed for Class of 2020 above, but we will handle your spring registration for you. Please be on the lookout for an email regarding removing your registration holds, which you will need to complete prior to November 12. The timing of this email will depend on when the university adds the registration holds to your account, but you can expect it to come in late October or early November.

Career Development Office

First Years: Please Schedule a PMBA Intake Session with the CDO; Required to See Job Postings/Participate in On-Campus Recruiting Next Year

Part of our process of getting to know you and your career goals are our intake sessions. We only offer PMBA intake sessions during your first semester here (this semester!) and they are required to enable you to participate in on-campus recruiting and/or to view our job postings during your second year. Please schedule an intake appointment through OWL-Careers at your earliest convenience!

Second Years: It’s the Year of the Interview – Get Prepared!

How do you nail an interview? PRACTICE. As a second year student, you might already be interviewing, so now is a good time to schedule it an appointment to conduct a mock interview! To really ensure your interview success, you should complete more than one mock interview and with different advisors, if possible, in order to get a fresh take each time you practice. Additionally, we have some supplemental materials and resources, including Big Interview, which you can utilize to hone your interview skills.

Big Interview is an online interview platform that not only allows you practice targeted interview questions and record yourself in order to reflect on areas of improvement in your interview approach, but also provides the following services:

Answer Builder: Create the optimal interview answer based on stories from your experience, step-by-step.

Negotiation Curriculum: Learn the art of salary negotiation, the psychology behind it, and how to approach any salary negotiation situation tactfully.

Remember, we also have a breadth of material on interviewing on our CampusGroups site. Please remember to review this information before you have a mock interview appointment with an advisor in order to optimize the time spent in your appointment.
