Full-Time MBA Program

June 4, 2018

We are excited to kick off our weekly communication with this first Summer Scoop. You will receive a Summer Scoop each Monday throughout the summer until the beginning of Launch, so please be on the lookout for them.  After today, these will only be sent to your Rice email address, so please plan to check your Rice email weekly (or set it up to forward to an email address that you will be checking).  The Summer Scoop is meant to serve as a one-stop-shop resource for summer preparation.  We try and minimize multiple communications through multiple channels, so you should be able to find most of what you need to know this summer, every week in the Summer Scoop. I encourage you to read through each one thoroughly.

Congratulations on joining the Rice Business family.  We look forward to working with all of you throughout the summer and over the next two years.

Welcome from Associate Dean Andrews

George Andrews, Associate Dean of MBA Programs

Meet the SPO

Brooke Sabo, Executive Director

I'm a small town girl from Golden, Colorado that moved to Texas for college, and I haven't left since. I love the Broncos and Aggies. I love to work out (I CrossFit when I can fit it in). I'm a HUGE sports fan. In my opinion there isn't a better place to be than in Colorado in MORE...

What should I be doing now?

Please complete your Onboarding Survey as soon as possible. The Onboarding Survey collects most of the information that we need from you during your tenure here at Rice Business. Everything from your headshots, so that we can put together a photo directory for you and your professors, to your height, so that we can order you the proper sized graduation gown.

While you need to look professional in the headshots that you submit, the headshots themselves do not need to be done by a professional. We have had students who have had others take their pictures and some have even submitted selfies. Please just make sure that you are dressed appropriately, are not wearing any shades or hats or anything that can obscure your face and that you are the only person in the picture.

You will also want to read and comptete the items on the Onboarding Checklist, which you can find attached to this email or you can find here.

Rice Facts

Rice alumnus John Cox ‘27 gave his alma mater his ownership of Yankee Stadium, including all leasing rights, in 1962.  Rice made several million dollars off the gift, leasing the House that Ruth Built to the Yankees for almost a decade.  In winter 1966, the stadium was painted blue and white.  Coincidence?  We think not.  The city of New York eventually forced Rice to sell Yankee Stadium in 1971 for the meager price of $2.5 million.
