Thanks for all of the great speeches this evening! The candidates did a phenomenal job!

Two Things about Breakout Rooms

  1. Please make sure that you are reserving Breakout Rooms through the room reservations system which you can access at rooms.rice.edu. I know that it is really easy to just find an empty Breakout Room and start working, but this can cause frustration for those who have gone into the system and reserved the space. If you have not reserved the Breakout Room space, you could be asked to vacate the room by someone who has actually booked the space.
  2. Please DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BELONGINGS UNATTENDED. Not in the Breakout Rooms, not in the classrooms, not in the common areas. McNair Hall is a public building and even though it feels like it is a space where you would only find MBA students and you all trust each other, the building is open to the public from 6:00am-10:00pm Monday-Friday. We have had a string of thefts and ask for you to all be more vigilant and not leave your belongings unattended.

Fall Career Expo

Rice Fall Career and Internship Expo
Tuesday, September 18

10 AM – 3 PM
Tudor Fieldhouse

Every year, Rice holds an all-campus career and internship expo. Visit with over 100 companies registered to attend! View the list of employers here.

We’ve put together some essential tips to help you be successful at the Career Expo, including how to approach companies of interest who might not be there to hire MBAs specifically, as well as considerations for international students looking to attend the Expo. Please see the guide here: Navigating the Career Expo as a MBA Student. This document is also posted on our CampusGroups page under “Resources” – Job Search.

Trek Prep Workshop

If you are applying or are registered for one of the upcoming CDO-sponsored treks in October (Houston, Week on Wall Street, Seattle - NOT Austin, there will be separate communications for that trek) you will need to participate in the Trek Preparation workshop which will outline what to expect during the treks, as well as provide valuable information regarding how to maximize your interactions with alumni and employers during the trek. Please RSVP on OWL-Careers.

Tuesday Walk-Ins Cancelled Next Week

Due to the Career Expo on Tuesday, we are cancelling Walk-Ins on Tuesday, Sept. 18th.

Feel free to come find us and say hello at the Career Expo!

Share Your Wins! Update OWL-Careers with Any Job Offers Received

A major aspect of our school rankings are employment outcomes, and this includes all offers students receive, not just the ones you accept!

If you’ve received a job offer, please let us know about it by reporting it in OWL-Careers. This information also helps us understand who is interested in our students so that we can be better informed on who to build strategic relationships with to develop our employer base. Help us help you, and report any offers you receive in to OWL-Careers. NOTE: Merely reporting an offer received will have no effect on your recruiting status. So don’t worry about reporting offers received, nothing will change in OWL-Careers and you will still have full access to recruiting.

Career Development Workshops for PMBA Students

We are offering evening workshops to help you with your career development! Don’t miss our upcoming Networking and Interviewing Workshop, featuring Rice MBA Alumni Board Member, LP Fortin Borroughes, Manager at Alvarez & Marsal.
