Don’t forget to start checking your Rice email. After this week, we’ll only be contacting you there.

What should I be doing now?
Look over the onboarding checklist (there are a few things for you to do this week).
Pre-MBA Quantitative Skills Courses
To ensure you are prepared for the rigor of your MBA coursework, Rice Business offers a set of online Pre-MBA Quantitative Skills Courses. These courses are designed to refresh your skills and build confidence in key areas before the semester begins. The three courses include:
- Data Analytics (Required)
- Accounting (Required)
- Finance (Strongly Encouraged)
You are required to complete Data Analytics and Accounting before the start of those respective core courses. You may meet this requirement in one of two ways:
- Pass the waiver exam with a score of 70% or higher
- Complete the Coursera modules for Accounting and Data Analytics
The Finance course is optional but highly recommended for all students, particularly those without a prior background in finance.
You may begin working on these courses as soon as you receive access to your Rice NetID. Instructions and access details are available in your Applicant Portal.
Why this matters: These courses help ensure a smooth academic transition, provide a baseline of shared knowledge across the class, and support your success in Launch and beyond. Please do not delay starting these modules—they are a key part of your onboarding.
If you have any questions, please contact: onboarding@rice.edu
