The Multidisciplinary Club envisions that a real MBA is not just a master of business administration, but a master about anything. As James Weston once said in our Finance class, the most important class in the MBA program is everything even classes beyond business school. Others such as Jack Gill, entrepreneurship professor at Rice, believe that people trained in multidisciplinary fields are the ones who built entire new industries. All of this is what many call systems thinking and is what several business people, like Elon Musk, apply in running successful organizations. It is the notion that in order to make better decisions, in both business and in life, one has to have at least decent knowledge on several subjects. The mission of the Multidisciplinary Club is to bring people together, share new ideas, improve relationships with all of Rice graduate students and TMC medical students and promote the value of interdisciplinary programs such as the Rice Joint Degree program.
