Rice Business Volunteers Needed
for National Urban League Student Leadership Summit
The National Urban League (NUL) is holding their annual conference in Houston next week and has identified Rice University to host their Student Leadership Summit. The NUL promotes economic empowerment and serves as a community-based organization that operates throughout the country, and we’re thrilled to be welcoming them to campus.
One of the Student Leadership Summit events is the Youth Entrepreneurship Pitch Competition and Storytelling Project. Young people are challenged to develop a creative, youth-driven solution to an issue of concern in their communities. Working in teams, youth ideate, refine, and then pitch their solution to a panel of judges. Winning teams receive cash prizes and access to business advisement resources as they refine their solutions over 9 months with a professional film crew documenting their journeys.
The Youth Summit needs volunteer judges and coaches from Rice Business!
Volunteers will serve as judges and coaches for the youth teams. The coaches will push the students’ thinking and encourage and critique their ideas to sharpen them for the pitch. Judges must be available from 2:15 PM on July 29 to meet in a green room with other judges. Coaches need to be available for a coaching prep call, date TBD.
