The clock is ticking . . . are you ready to apply to the Rice Business Plan Competition?

Applications are due Sunday, February 10 by 5:00 PM!

Apply on the RBPC website!

Rice University hosts the world’s largest and richest student startup competition, with 42 teams competing for over $1.5 million in in prizes.

Will your startup be the one to represent Rice University?

At the Rice Business Plan Competition (RBPC), collegiate entrepreneurs get real-world experience in how to pitch their startups to investors, integrate with the entrepreneurial ecosystem, enhance their startup strategy, connect with mentors, and learn what it takes to launch a successful business.

Rice University is guaranteed one berth in this competition. We determine that startup through an internal competition, The Qualifier, in February. This pre-RBPC event has Rice teams pitch their startups to a panel of judges to determine who advances to the RBPC to represent Rice University!

To be eligible, your startup will:

  • Have at least one current Rice student founder
  • Contain at least two current student founders, one of which must be a graduate-degree seeking student (MA, PhD, MBA, JD, etc)
  • Be student-driven, but can be from multiple universities and across degree programs
  • Fall into one of the following categories: Energy/CleanTech, Life Sciences, Tech/Digital and Other Innovations (for startups that don't fit neatly in another category)

At the Qualifier and at the RBPC, two team members, both current students, must present your startup.

Important deadlines:
  • Applications are due Sunday, February 10, 2019 by 5:00 PM CST. Apply here.
  • The Qualifier for the RBPC is Thursday, February 21, 2019, from 5:30 – 8:80 PM in the Jones School.
